I don't know how many of you read this who won't have heard from other people already, but it's Film Unit's 60th anniversary this year, and they are apparently putting on some kind of reunion celebration on or around the 21st February. A bunch of old timers have fallen off my friends list; some of them are still there but probably don't read any more - but I see rich_jacko, tiggothy, chiv, and a couple of others kicking around in there. If you could make sure people like thegreatgonzo and purpletom and anyone else with a marginal connection to FU know about it, that'd be neat.

I don't know what's supposed to be happening, but I suppose a good start would be to email Film Unit on film.unit @ shef.ac.uk.

I'll let purpletom know! There's a FU presence on Facebook - have I missed an invitation over there? There's a fair number of old-timers on there...

I shall pass the details of the FU Facebook on to the organisers.

Actually, that is run by FU. D'oh! No, I think there's nothing on there yet.

I think they're still in the planning stages so far, sounding out interested parties and the like - they are also, apparently, looking for any FU memorabilia that they can get a loan of ("memories, photographs, programmes pre 1980, posters, archive films").

...have they all the stuff from the '90s then?
Mind you, guess they would have it 'coz of who did it. If not, there are some A3 (I think) programmes in our workshop, from about '96-'98

Email them and offer it. I seem to remember that stuff being pretty well covered from about '98 or so onwards, don't know if they've dug up some older stuff.

TFs 2007

Hmm, I think my "memorabilia" extends as far as a complete set of c.'96-'00 programmes, plus a few of the door wedges.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah, so that's where they went! I kept having to buy new ones.

Actually, given you left the year I arrived (iirc) you probably did not steal the wedges I missed - but I thought it was funny.

There are door wedges that might be interesting memorabilia - for example, the one Tim threatened to stab mobile phone users with in a slide ad (and, incidentally, became the logo for an FU T-shirt) - but I suspect a common or garden door wedge would not really be all that memorable.

Vanishing door wedges were a constant problem. I was constantly having to buy new ones too, which is why I felt thoroughly justified in keeping a few when I left. But yes, bog standard Wilko door wedges aren't much of a souvenir. It sounds like they're covered for all the programmes I have too.

I'll have a look to see if I've got anything else (apart from t-shirts of course). talma probably still has Marmalade the Cat, who was non-portfolio officer for a couple of years.
